Our Mission Statement

To establish a ski instruction program in which the National organization and its members are protected while conducting National Ski Patrol training to its members.

The purpose of the National Ski Patrol-Central Division (NSP-C) Snow Sports School is to protect our members and provide a foundation for maintaining quality instruction throughout the Central Division. While it is common knowledge that patrollers have been teaching skiing since the National organization was established, the need to advance the ski teaching program was not needed until recently. Liability has escalated to what it is today, and it is prudent for us to protect our members' best interest. The underlying factor is we need to be able to train our patrollers in skiing and toboggan maneuvers. Those who join the Snow Sports School are actually purchasing liability insurance in case they, or a student, are injured while teaching a lesson.

Who Are We?

The NSP-C Western Region Snow Sports School is a traveling snow sports school serving the ski patrols in Minnesota, parts of Wisconsin and South Dakota. We provide Ski Enhancement Seminars (SES'S) to ski patrollers in this region. We also want to add numbers to our instructor ranks by helping patrollers to find pathways to certification in the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) organization. Our school utilizes PSIA Level II and III instructors to improve ski the ski skills of patrollers, and develop those who want to become PSIA certified.

What is an SES?

An SES is a one day seminar for all NSP members who want to improve their skiing, snowboarding or telemarking skills while working with PSIA certified instructors. The clinic will help patrollers focus on techniques to ski more efficiently and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Additional seminar benefits include improving patroller image with the ski industry and public, and enhancing the NSP/PSIA relationship. Participants will also be given exercises to work on after the seminar to help improve their skiing. The philosophy of the seminar has been summarized as, "No books, no refreshers, no jackets, no patrol belts, just the best ski lesson you will ever have!" This is a great opportunity for all patrollers.

The SES fee of includes a full day lesson with video analysis. You will become a better skier/boarder and enhance your patrol's image. The SES is an excellent opportunity to polish your skills for a senior evaluation and/or PSIA certification. Online registration is fast and easy. PayPal is the only accepted form of payment.

We offer snowboard and telemark instruction. Please notify us well in advance so the we can arrange an instructor.
